Article IX – Human Intelligence and texlytics Intelligence Systems

Today we’re sharing another excerpt from the developing texlytics Charter, the document that defines the enduring beliefs and principles upon which our company is being built.

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the workplace, much of the conversation has focused on which jobs or responsibilities it might replace. At texlytics, we believe there is a more useful question organizations should be asking: How can AI multiply the impact of the people already doing the work?

People bring wisdom, empathy, judgment, creativity, and experience. Technology contributes speed, consistency, scale, and the ability to execute repetitive work without fatigue. The greatest opportunity is not choosing one over the other. It is intentionally designing systems that allow each to contribute what it does best.

One sentence from the article captures our philosophy:

We are not trying to automate people. We are trying to multiply people.

When we evaluate an AI solution, we begin by asking whether it will make the people using it more capable and more valuable. If the answer is no, then we believe the solution needs to be reconsidered.

This principle has become an important part of the texlytics Charter, and it will influence every Intelligence System we design. AI should give people better information, extend their capabilities, and create more time for the judgment and creativity that only they can provide.

We would be interested in hearing your perspective. Should organizations measure AI by the number of jobs it replaces, or by how much more effective it makes the people who use it?

This post is part of the texlytics Charter Series, where we are sharing the enduring principles that shape our company, our consulting philosophy, and the way we approach technology.

Ideas rarely emerge in isolation. This article was inspired in part by conversations with Rosie Guagliardo and her perspective on helping people reach their full potential.
